What MIL-STD Drop Testing Really Means

Military environmental testing standards were originally developed by the U.S. Department of Defense to establish repeatable methods for evaluating equipment exposed to demanding environments.

For impact protection, one of the best-known benchmarks is the MIL-STD-810G Method 516.6, Procedure IV Transit Drop Test.

Under this procedure, a protected device is subjected to a sequence of 26 controlled drops, covering its faces, edges, and corners.

After the impacts, the device still needs to function and do its job.

Mil-Spec is our Benchmark. The Classroom Is Our Proving Ground.

There is no case that can guarantee a device will never be damaged and we don't believe in pretending otherwise.

What we can do is engineer smarter protection, validate it against recognized testing procedures, learn from devices being used in actual schools, and continuously improve the next generation.

That's the difference between simply making a case...and designing a protection system.
